Position Summary
The Department of Music in the Faculty of Media, Art and Performance (MAP) at the University of Regina, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Vocal Performance, to commence July 1, 2024.

The Department of Music is a flexible, responsive and dynamic team of performers and scholars, housed within the Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance. Faculty members are committed to fostering community engagement and collaboration with the variety of professional and community organizations that make up the active music scene and vibrant cultural environment of the City of Regina and Province of Saskatchewan.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching applied voice at a variety of levels, including in voice-related courses such as diction, pedagogy, techniques, repertoire, and performance workshops. Moreover, the integration of effective teaching strategies to diverse students and creating an inclusive studio are considered assets, as is a significant national profile as a vocalist with an impressive record of performances, live and recorded, that detail experience and mastery in a broad range of styles.

Responsibilities of the position include teaching applied voice as well as voice-related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Music Department and the Faculty of MAP. There may also be additional teaching to be carried out according to the needs of the Department and/or Faculty, and in consideration of the background and abilities of the candidate.

In addition to being an excellent teacher and communicator, the successful candidate will have a strong research agenda and be actively engaged in ongoing scholarly research and artistic work. A strong commitment to providing leadership in the applied voice area with strength in recruitment and willingness to undertake administrative activities and responsibilities corresponding to rank are essential to this position as well.

To that end, the successful candidate will: help recruit, advise, and retain students in general; supervise graduate and undergraduate student work; serve on department, faculty, and university committees; participate in faculty, university, and community life; and establish and maintain a local, provincial, and national reputation and network as a vocal professional.

Finally, the successful candidate will collaborate with community partners and stakeholders, including local and provincial vocal studio teachers. Knowledge of, and experience with, the Regina and southern Saskatchewan vocal community is a definite asset.
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in a relevant area, preferably a DMA in vocal performance and/or pedagogy, or a completed master’s degree with commensurate professional experience. Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate level at an accredited post-secondary institution is required.
