Position Summary
The Public Safety Personnel Internet-delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (PSPNET) team is located at the University of Regina and part of the Canadian Institute of Public Safety Research and Treatment (CIPSRT) funded by Public Safety Canada. The PSPNET team is led by Dr. Heather Hadjistavropoulos, one of Canada’s foremost leaders on ICBT. The team consists of both clinicians and researchers who are developing, implementing and evaluating ICBT to help current and former public safety personnel (PSP) to improve their mental health and wellbeing. ICBT typically begins with an online and telephone screening. ICBT itself involves patients reviewing psychoeducational materials over the internet and therapists providing support and directing therapeutic activities via secure messaging and phone calls.

The clinical research associate will work under the supervision of the Clinical Operations Manager at the University of Regina. The clinical research associate will be involved in clinical activities associated with the project. It is anticipated that the clinical research associate will assist with screening clients for ICBT and with delivery of ICBT to PSP. The clinical research associate will also assist with general operation of the PSPNET unit, such as tracking client flow and caseloads, engagement with PSP, and with improvement initiatives such as development and/or improvement of treatment materials and procedures. The incumbent will be required to follow protocols as approved by the Research Ethics Board and maintain client records in accordance with health record legislation and research protocol.

Position Requirements
  • The skills associated with this position would typically be obtained through the completion of a Master’s degree in Social Work, Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology or Clinical psychology.
  • Registration or ability to be registered to practice with professional regulatory bodies in various provinces in Canada is important.
  • Previous direct knowledge and experience working with clients who have mental health problems is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in cognitive behavioural therapy a significant asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with team;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Must be able to work with interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians;
  • Must be able to work autonomously under supervision;
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Must have strong assessment and problem solving skills;
  • Must have basic computer skills;
  • Advanced computer skills an asset;
  • Ability to work remotely;
  • Previous experience with public safety personnel an asset.
  • Criminal record check may be required for the position.
